Fitting Photography Into Your Budget
Photography is an incredibly important service provided for your wedding. While you do not want to overlook it, it can also be difficult to budget. Still, it is not impossible to stick to your budget while having beautiful photographs of your wedding day!
Always hire a professional. Don't ask your friend or family member who "takes good pictures" to photograph your wedding. Odds are you want them to be a guest at your wedding (rather than a vendor) and you really never know what the quality of images you will end up with will be. Hire a professional with experience photographing weddings. Make sure you look at their portfolio and get a sense of their style and that you meet with them ahead of time to discuss your wedding.
Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event. Make sure that it is beautifully captured!
You may wish to ask your photographer to only be present for portions of your day- or to develop a package to fit your budget. Some couples choose to have photographs taken only prior to and during the ceremony, and forgo a photographer at the reception. This would allow the photographer to take ceremony photographs as well as traditional wedding portraits and group shots only- but would certainly lower your photography costs.
Similarly, to save money on your videographer, you can also ask them to videotape the ceremony only and then have friends videotape the reception.
Choose a photography package rather than purchasing all of the items a la carte. RedFeather Photography works hard to help brides on a budget, and we can almost certainly put together a package that fits your needs and your budget. Ask your photographer to work with you on your package- almost all can and will- to make sure that your photography needs are met.
